Day 40 – Cusco, Peru (27 April 2012)
I have a good sleep in this morning, it is great
to be in a proper bed (well it seems like a proper bed in comparison to what we
have been sleeping on). I miss breakfast
at the hostel but that doesn’t matter as it costs anyway. When I wake up we unpack our SAS bags to have
them ready to return (well actually, first thing I did was shower) and also take
some smelly clothes to the laundry to be washed. We are out and about mid morning and the
first thing we do is drop our bags off at SAS.
We then go out for lunch which is an extended edition today as it is a
rest day. After lunch we have a look around
town in the hunt for some postcards and souvenirs. We then have a quick look in the Choco
Museum. Very nice chocolate, we
purchased a block of Oreo flavoured chocolate here, magnificent!!! While we are
in there we see our Aussie friend Lewis who was on the 4x4 tour. He is doing the chocolate workshop and
convinces us to book in for the next day.
We talk to Lewis and his friend Michelle for over an hour (in the
meantime they were waiting for their chocolate to set, Michelle kindly gives us
some of hers and it is delicious). Lewis
then has to go as he starts the Inca Trail the next day. We leave as we have to pick up our clean
clothes from the laundry. We then go out
for dinner at a place called Jack’s. I
had a steak sandwich and Ann has nachos.
Back to the hostel after dinner, it has definitely been a relaxing day
which was needed.
