We awake early to get to the bus station by 8. We time it so we can get our hostel breakfast
which begins at 7 and then get a taxi to the bus terminal. It is a longer ride than I expected to the
terminal, probably because we were travelling in rush hour, but we make it! We
book a bus to Medellin for 9am, with the 9 hour bus ride this should give us
enough time to get to the hostel and all settled in by dark. As we pull out of the bus station, we are hit
by traffic again, it takes us an hour just to get out of Bogota city! The bus
is a simple bus, nowhere near the quality of the Peru buses but definitely a
step up from the Ecuadorian buses! The start of the road is very windy as we
are going through hills, then we hit some straights which is quite nice, and
the scenery is good too. We get to a
town and stop for half an hour for lunch, and then we are back on the
road. The road is straight until we hit
another set of hills, these hills take us all the way to Medellin. To our disgust, we arrive in Medellin at 9pm,
a 12 hour bus trip! 3 hours longer than what the Lonely Planet had advised
us. We get a taxi to our hostel and the
travelling day is over!
